Ciri as the protagonist in the prequel to Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The publication GamePressure, citing its own anonymous sources, revealed the details of The Witcher 4. According to representatives of the website, the development of the project has already begun, and its conceptualization, judging by the published details, is already complete.
This is what GamePressure states:
“According to anonymous sources, Ciri will be the main character of The Witcher 4, whose creation was recently suggested by Adam Kicinski, the CEO of CD Projekt Red. The title is to be a prequel of the third installment of the series.”
In the continuation of the famous franchise the main character will be Ciri, the daughter of Geralt of Rivia under the Law of Surprise. The game will be about the adventures of the girl before the events of the third game. This means that, potentially, The Witcher 4 will be a prequel to Wild Hunt. Most likely, the game will be about the wanderings of Ciri, and the plot will more deeply reveal her relationship with the wizard Avallac’h. This story will most likely be told in their travels to different worlds.
Ciri VS. Geraly of Rivia
According to GamePressure, the developers at CD Projekt RED believe an original protagonist should always be present in The Witcher, and Ciri fits perfectly into this concept. The girl was a favorite when choosing a character for the main role, probably because The Wild Hunt focused deeply on her story. We have to wonder though if Ciri will actually be a good fit for the lead role, after all, if you’ve played the last game you’ll know Ciri wields some really powerful magic. According to anonymous sources, the authors have found a solution though and managed to fit Ciri’s abilities into the gameplay concept. The result, however, remains to be seen.
It is worth noting that official information regarding the development of The Witcher 4 has not been confirmed by the developers and we doubt any official information will be announced until after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Earlier, however, CD Projekt RED did express a desire to return to the series so these announcements may not be so far away.
